Pia Mezzacappa: Licensed Acupuncturist, MAOM

It has been said that in order to have a happy and fulfilling life, one should choose work that feels more like play. Pia has been fortunate to have found such ‘work’ in her Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture practice. She loves taking a cluster of seemingly unrelated symptoms, grouping them into an integrated pattern of disharmony, and then treating the root of the problem.

Pia studied Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Connecticut, before going on to receive her Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture. She has served on the board of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Society of of Massachusetts, and is credentialed as an Acupuncturist by both the Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. In addition, Pia was employed by the Massachusetts General Hospital for four years as an Acupuncturist and researcher for studies investigating the use of Acupuncture on conditions such as Carpal Tunnel using fMRI and MEG technology.

With an extensive background that includes treating babies & children with acupuncture at Boston Medical Center's Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal units, and cancer outpatients at their Cancer Center, Pia treats a wide variety of both internal conditions and orthopedic issues. She specializes in Women’s Health & Infertility including Menopausal symptoms, PMS, PCOS, Fibromyalgia, and Thyroid Disease.
